So I am finally all moved into my apartment and hooked up to the internets as of this weekend, so I should maybe start posting again.....maybe....if you're nice...
My month with operations was definitely interesting and I have some anecdotes to share. Maybe I will post them in a month or so. My words are coming at a premium evidently or something.

So I blasted into town Friday night and have spent an enjoyable weekend with my mom, who is now safely back in the d-town. My first day of work is tomorrow (10/16) at the retarded hour of 5:30 am. I have a feeling this first week will be pretty boring, what with all the safety and hazard training. I'll be back when things start to get a little more interesting. Until then here are some pics from the weekend, including the Ruby Mountains which are about 20 minutes away from Elko and a few photos of the city proper.
Well I am getting ready to move to Elko, Nevada to start my career as a mining engineer. This experience could go really well or horribly horribly wrong, either way it should be interesting.
I have actually spent a good deal of the summer here for my current job as a consultant, which is how I landed the mining job. My mentality was that if they were going to keep sending me to Nevada all the time working for the mine would probably be a lot more fun. I am not sure what my job entails yet, I am a planning engineer, so my initial hunch will be that it involves planning things. I guess we'll see what happens.
